    How many years coaching?

This will be my 2nd year coaching swim team at Dauphin, but I had been a volunteer mini team coach since I was 13.

How many years swimming and where?

I have been a swimmer for 13 years. I started swimming on the mini team for Dolphin Dauphins when I was 6 and was apart of the team until I headed off to college. I have also been apart of collegiate aquatics swim team, northern dauphin county YMCA swim team, and the central dauphin high school swim team.

College year and activities and major? Future plans?

I am a rising Junior at Shenandoah University where I am majoring in Exercise Science (Pre-Athletic Training) with a minor in coaching. Upon graduating, my goal is become an athletic trainer for the NFL. At Shenandoah I am also a part of the cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field team. After college training my goal is to train to do a marathon and triathlon.

    Hobbies?

Even though I am not swimming in college, I try to get in the pool to swim a few times a week. I have been a lifeguard at the Dauphin pool for 5 years now. This year I also got a job at the Winchester rec center during the school year where I lifeguard and instruct swim lessons. When I have free time I like to travel, shop, and hangout with friends.

    Fun facts about you?

I love to travel, especially to the beach, and I have traveled outside of the country 3 times. I have been to Bermuda, Punta Cana, Jamaica, and Canada. I would love to be able to travel all over the world if I have the money and time.

What you enjoy most or have learned from being a swimmer/swim coach?

Dauphin swim team really brought the fun into swimming and allowed me to meet some of my best friends. I remember every year just about everyday a few of us older kids would never get in the water so Coach Dino would have to throw us in everyday to make us swim.  Then we would complain “it’s too cold” or “we don’t want to do that set.” So,  then we ended up being named the Princesses, so we all got a princess swim cap to wear for our relay team in the championships.

Through swimming I have learned that it is not an easy sport and it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. There are going to be days you don’t want to go to practice, but you need to look at the goals you want to accomplish to motivate you to go. Once you learn to get comfortable being uncomfortable, you will realize how much more you are capable of doing than you would have thought.

    How many years coaching?

This is my second year as an assistant coach for the Dauphin Swim Team.

How many years swimming and where?

I started competitively swimming for the VA Oceana Manowars at the age of four. Since moving to PA, I swam for several different club teams but was always a Dauphin swimmer each summer.

What year are you  in College and activities and major? Future plans?

I am in my second year of college studying Biology/Allied Health at Kutztown University. I plan to earn my master’s degree to become a physician’s assistant in the future.  I am currently on Kutztown's swim team.

    Hobbies?

Along with swimming and coaching, I enjoy snowboarding and hanging out with friends/family in my free time.

    Fun facts about you?

When I was swimming for the Dauphin Swim Team, my attitude and reluctance to get in the freezing pool every morning earned me the title of “team princess”.

What you enjoy most or have learned from being a swimmer/swim coach?

Swimming has taught me the true meaning of discipline and hard work, and coaching has brought to light all the fun parts of swimming I love so much. My little swimmers have taught me to be patient, and I have learned from my oldest swimmers that no matter what I say or do they will never complete the entire warm-up.

    How many years coaching?

I have been coaching for 2 years now. I privately coached, taught swim lessons at Shippensburg high school, and coached Dauphin swim team.

How many years swimming and where?

I began swimming my freshman year of high school with the Central Dauphin swim team. I rose to team captain by my senior year and continued swimming at Shippensburg University. If in college - year and activities and major?

    Future plans?

I started swimming with Shippensburg University my sophomore year and did bodybuilding and club volleyball my freshman year. I am a Biology health concentration, pre-med. student there as well. My future plans are to enter the medical field and help treat those that are sick or have problems and get them back on track.

    Hobbies?

My hobbies include playing music with friends, of course, swimming and strength training, playing tennis, and skating.

    Fun facts about you?

I moved all the time as a kid, I was born in Rhode Island, moved to Connecticut, Stroudsburg Pa, Virginia, and now I'm here in Harrisburg so I know what it's like to not know anyone and how to make life-lasting friendships.

What you enjoy most or have learned from being a swimmer/swim coach?

I learned there are no shortcuts to success. I had to train hard and have a passion for this sport in order to succeed. I learned the hard practices are the ones you remember and the bond that's made with your teammates throughout it are special. From practice, to meets, to hanging out with each other, the bonds are like nothing else. As a swim coach I learned to educate, describe, guide, and enable my swimmers on what is expected, how to do it, how to teach all different types of kids, and how to progress while having an amazing time together. My favorite part is watching them grow and accomplish their goals. Nothing makes a coach more proud than seeing firsthand how hard their students push themselves and accomplish their dreams.

How long have you been coaching?

This is my first year coaching and I am so excited to be here!

A little about you and Future Plans?

I have been swimming for almost 14 years and I started here at Dauphin Swim Team and swam on the team until last year when I graduated from high school. I swam on numerous winter club teams in the area but am currently on Clarion University's Swim team. I just finished my freshmen year of college and loved it. Currently, I am on the swim team at Clarion and am studying Nutrition and Fitness with a chiropractic focus. I plan to move on to chiropractic school after graduating from Clarion.

    Hobbies?

I love to hike, draw and paint, and cook.

What do you enjoy most or have learned from being a swimmer/swim coach?

I have loved meeting all the friends along the way in all my years swimming. The friendships I have made here at Dauphin on this team have given me some of the best friendships that I could have asked for and some of those people are standing up here beside me coaching!
